In our Hillsboro MMA school, OR we always talk about breaking the plane of glass when executing a takedown
This is the true secret to hitting a lot of takedowns.
Most people’s takedowns are terrible because they don’t break the plane of glass.
If you don’t get a body close enough to you to execute the takedown, you’re sunk.
You might as well lay down and let the other person take BJJ position of rear mount.
Again, you need to practice a lot.
One of my favorite drills that I use all the time in my Hillsboro MMA school is a two punch to double leg drill.
We use bands to help give us resistance, and we go up and down my MMA School in Hillsboro.
Not only does it carve out strong legs, it teaches you to keep your technique even when you’re tired.
So that when your opponent is gassing, you might be gassed, but you still have the technique to make the takedown work.
That’s how you make a takedown work, and that’s why you need to break the plane of glass when you shoot for your doubles or singles.
