Head movement is key

In my martial arts school in Hillsboro, OR I like to teach a lot of head movement during a fight.

Mike Tyson was famous for this in his early days, it was a main part of his defense.

He would wade in, almost untouched, with head movement and pick and choose angles to punch from.

All because his defense was awesome.

Any Hillsboro martial arts school or anywhere should teach head movement, period.

It was the secret (and still is) to many of the great fighters past and present.

On yesterday’s Ultimate Fighter, Junie fought and the reason he won, is because he hit a lot more of the power shots.

He actually had the guy figured out in 2nd round, and some of the 3rd.

The reason why the other guy lost was that he had little to no head movement.

Had he moved his head more with his footwork, he would have won the fight pretty handily.

He would have dominated with his superior straight punching boxing skills.

Junie was mostly using a hook as his power shot, and had his opponent “pulled” (leaned back) or ducked under the punch he would have negated Junie’s offense.

That’s why I’m so adamant about it in my Hillsboro martial arts school.

Head movement plus footwork, equals wins.

So if you want to win more fights, then train correctly.

Get more head movement into your routines.
